Erlend Cross - Born 1997
Australia-based abstract multi-disciplinary artist.
Cross focuses on site-specific 'geo-biographical' works using properties of locally sourced and naturally derived materials to approach deeper relationships with landscape phenomena.
He considers the value of being in (a) place; perception; experience; and the intrinsic qualities of both natural processes and people in creating this value.
Most recently, his works have been produced and exhibited throughout Japan, employing Japanese materials (sumi, washi and shoji papers) and traditional dyeing techniques such as aizome.
The core of his practice is based in reverence for the ephemeral, dynamic and enduring patterns of Nature.
