Kawayu Onsen, Hokkaido '23
'Landsong'
A land art installation in Hokkaido's forest, encircled by hot springs.
This temporary work was embedded in the landscape. Natural changes in snowfall, wind, light, temperature and volcanic activity leave their own traces.
Until the seasons change and the snow melts, it reflects this place's elemental serenity.

'Flowing Onsen Cinder'
Suspended in the forest of the Extreme Cold Art Festival.
Foraged wood was charred, stained and hung in arrangements taken from the patterns of moonlight shining onto onsen water.
This installation formed a space to reflect on the special features of this area: flowing hot spring rivers, steaming volcanoes and hushed forests.
Above all, it holds reverence for Kawayuonsen's dynamic purity.
Supporting calligraphy work in collaboration with Sosui Ban (ash and sumi on paper mounted on glass).
